Catalog description

Prerequisite: Admission to the nursing program or permission of instructor, and TBSN: NUR 332. Corequisite: NUR 363. This course prepares students to provide holistic, evidence-based psycho-social care to individuals and families across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on understanding mental health conditions, coping strategies, stress tolerance, trauma-informed care, and pharmacological considerations. Students will explore interventions for anxiety, depression, psychosis, addiction, interpersonal violence, and crisis situations, including suicide prevention and de-escalation techniques. Interprofessional collaboration with social work, psychology, and other disciplines will be integrated throughout the course.
