Catalog description

Prerequisite: Admission to the nursing program or permission of the instructor, and TBSN: NUR 230; ABSN: NUR 243; OABSN: None. Corequisite: TBSN/ABSN/OABSN: NUR 262. This concept-based course introduces the nursing process in the care of adults experiencing common acute and chronic health alterations. Emphasizing clinical decision making, in the care of conditions related to concepts such as oxygenation, perfusion, mobility, pain, inflammation, fluid and electrolyte imbalance, and elimination, students will apply evidence-based nursing interventions to promote optimal health outcomes. The course integrates unfolding case studies and simulation to develop critical thinking, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills in diverse healthcare settings.
