Catalog description

Prerequisite: Admission to Nursing program and completion of an undergraduate statistics course. Corequisite: None. This concept-based course introduces students to the principles and applications of nursing informatics and data science in healthcare. The course emphasizes core concepts such as Informatics, Safety, Communication, Communication tools including social media, Clinical Judgment, Evidence-Based Practice, and Health Care Systems. Students explore the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), electronic health records (EHR), clinical decision support systems, and data analytics to improve patient outcomes and support evidence-based practice.
