Catalog description

Prerequisites: Completion of the Core Curriculum Research & Professional Writing requirement, PSY 101, MUS/MTX 290 or MTX 190, MTX 291, MTX 391, MTX 392 (or concurrent), or by permission of instructor. In this course, students will learn about musical behavior and experience, how music influences behavior, music learning and development, current trends in psychoacoustics and musical testing, and current neurological research in music. Since this course is a WAC, students will also gain experience in researching an area of specific interest and presenting findings and/or idea in spoken and written form. Music therapy majors must earn at least a “B-” for this course to count towards the music therapy bachelor’s degree.
