Catalog description
Prerequisites: Successful completion of MTX 371, 381, and MTX 391 (section 1). Co-requisites: MTX 372 and MTX 391 (section 2). This course provides supervised clinical training in approved practicum settings where students apply music therapy principles, methods, and techniques with diverse client needs. Emphasis is placed on the integration of musical, clinical, and professional competencies through direct client contact, supervision, documentation, and reflective practice. Students develop skills in assessment, treatment planning, intervention, evaluation, and clinical musicianship while upholding ethical, legal, and cultural standards of the profession. Music therapy majors must earn at least a “B-” for this course to count towards the music therapy bachelor’s degree (or its post-bac equivalent).
