Advanced Practicum Competency Exam

Catalog description

Prerequisites: Successful completion of MTX 372 and MTX 391 (both iterations). Co-requisites: MTX 383 and MTX 393 (1st iteration). The Advanced Practicum Competency Exam is an evaluation examination designed to assess advanced-level proficiency in musical skills required for effective clinical practice. The exam measures competence in voice, guitar, piano, and improvisation. Music therapy majors must earn an “S” (Satisfactory) to proceed to MTX 393 (2nd iteration) and for this course to count towards the music therapy bachelor’s degree (or its post-bac equivalent).
