Catalog description

Prerequisites: MTX 180; MTX 181; MTX 280; MTX 281; MTX 282. Music Therapy Major or permission from course instructor. Co-requisites: MTX 173. This course builds on MTX 282, further developing students’ functional and advanced keyboard/piano techniques for clinical application. Students will expand their proficiency in transposition, arranging, and accompanying various musical styles, with an emphasis on adapting techniques for different client needs. Continued development of guitar, voice, and percussion skills is incorporated to support well-rounded therapeutic musicianship. Music therapy majors must earn at least a “B-” for this course to be counted toward the music therapy bachelor’s degree (or its post-bac equivalent).
