Music in Health and Wellness

Catalog description

This course is designed for students with limited or no background in the discipline of music or music therapy. Music in Health and Wellness provides an overview of the use of music in the context of health and wellness across various domains. Students will critically examine the therapeutic potential of music, comparing the roles of professional practitioners and non-professional users by engaging in collaborative activities, exploring evidence-based research, and thinking critically about the application of music to support wellness. Students will also examine the ethics and values of the therapeutic use of music as well as social and environmental barriers that may impact access.
