Catalog description
Prerequisite: Suitable placement-exam score and permission of Education Advisor. Topics needed to teach elementary school mathematics, including numeration systems, operations, algebraic thinking, problem solving, and applications. Students are provided with intensive support to strengthen their elementary mathematics skills. Prerequisite material will be introduced as needed. This course makes extensive use of online software for computer assisted instruction, assessment, and testing. Some class meetings will be held in a computer laboratory setting and students are expected to use the software on a self-paced, out-of-class basis to supplement regular in-class meetings. MTH 135 requires class contact time of 6 credit hours and will be applied towards both financial aid and term billing as 6 credit hours. However, only 4 credit hours will count towards graduation requirements. Only 4 credit hours of MTH 135 or MTH 137 will count towards graduation requirements. Students may not receive credit for MTH 135 if they have credit for MTH 137 or MTH 127.
