Catalog description

Course pre-requisites: Completion of HED 414/HSC 414 and HED 420/HSC 420, a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and enrollment in the Health and Wellness Coaching certificate. This course is designed to assist students interested in the health professions and any aspect of health promotion to examine the role and function of health, disease and healing from a physiological, psychological and sociological perspective. Personal, situational and environmental influences are explored and discussed. This course focuses on specific diseases, their causes, consequences, and treatments. It further discusses special populations at high risk for each of the chronic diseases discussed. Finally, this course focuses on different forms of healing and the role of health coaching.
