Catalog description

Methods of Teaching Computer Science engages pre-service and in-service teachers in exploring authentic, important, and research based methods for teaching computer science in grades K-12. This course also provides opportunities for candidates to gain experience in assessing, preparing, and teaching computer science lessons through an incorporated field experience. The field experience requires 50 hours in computer science teaching. Physical materials and strategies for teaching computer science K-12 are considered, as are student characteristics, teaching and learning styles, issues of equity and diversity and constructivist theories of learning.
