Advanced Topics in Behavior Analysis

Catalog description

Prerequisite: Admission to the BCaBA certification sequence; ESE 430/530 Principles, ESE 431/531 Research. This course provides a foundation in radical behaviorism as a philosophy of the science of behavior. The seminar format of this course provides a forum for discussion of that philosophy’s implications in research and practice in behavior analysis. Individuals who seek to hold the highest certification in behavior analysis or other leadership positions in the fields of special education and psychology need a thorough understanding of the foundation of their discipline. This knowledge will guide their future work as and with behavior analysts, educators, researchers, and administrators. In this course, students read, write summaries of, and discuss Skinner’s ideas. Students are expected to evaluate current and classic research in the field against these ideas.
