Prerequisite: Placement by ACT/SAT scores or English Placement Exam, or completion of ENG 100 or ENG 101. This section of College Writing II focuses on Writing and AI and is designed to expand your academic voice (specifically your voice as an academic writer and researcher for professional and disciplinary purposes) through the lens of issues related to writing and AI. This course emphasizes the development of academic research and writing skills while urging students to engage with current topics such as how is AI transforming the process of writing, composing, and content creation? What are the ethical implications of using AI in writing? What is the future of work, education, writing, and/or art in the age of AI? What is the future of privacy? Students will explore various genres of writing, including argumentative essays, research papers, and multimodal texts, tailored to diverse audiences. Through collaborative projects, peer reviews, and class discussions, students will learn to articulate their ideas effectively and support their arguments with credible sources.
