Catalog description

Prerequisite: Placement by ACT/SAT scores or English Placement Exam, or completion of ENG 100 or ENG 101. This section of College Writing II focuses on Environmental Sustainability and is designed to expand your academic voice (specifically your voice as an academic writer and researcher for professional and disciplinary purposes) through the lens of environmental issues. This course emphasizes the development of academic research and writing skills while urging students to engage with current topics such as what are the impacts of climate change, what are benefits and challenges associated with renewable energy and how might those challenges be mitigated, and how to encourage local stakeholders to use sustainable practices in their businesses? Students will explore various genres of writing, including argumentative essays, research papers, and multimodal texts, tailored to diverse audiences. Through collaborative projects, peer reviews, and class discussions, students will learn to articulate their ideas effectively and support their arguments with credible sources. Students must pass ENG 100 or ENG 101 to enroll in any College Writing II course including ENG 107. Students may only earn credit for College Writing II once.
