Catalog description

Prerequisites: Completion of the Core Curriculum Research & Professional Writing requirement, CVE 211 and 3 of CVE 322, CVE 331, CVE 361 & CVE 371. Corequisite: CVE 446. This course is the first course in a two-course series wherein students learn to complete a technical project from start to finish and then apply that knowledge along with previously developed principles of civil engineering to a civil engineering design project. Topics include the engineering design process and general philosophy of project management, construction and manufacturing processes and procedures, cost estimating, schedule planning, project roles and responsibilities, and project selection methods. Students are assigned civil engineering design projects, form teams, and develop a written proposal detailing the work to be done in the second course of the two-course series.
