Catalog description
This course explores incarceration as a social determinant of health, with a particular emphasis on the ways in which people of color, the poor, and the undereducated are disproportionately burdened by correctional health consequences. Specific topics covered include the health-related consequences of solitary confinement, the aging prisoner population, prison-based violence and trauma exposure, and risks for morbidity and mortality.
