Construction Ethics, Contracts and Project Delivery Systems

Catalog description

Prerequisite: CMG 120. This course first introduces students to a basic understanding of the American legal system and legal issues significant to construction industry professionals. While the course is designed to teach basic concepts of law and to clarify specific legal issues. It is not intended to impart the tools necessary to provide legal advice. The course material is a survey of topics covered in-depth. This course also covers ethical issues faced in the construction industry. Delivery methods, including design-bid-build, CM/GC (CM at risk), multiple prime, design-build, and public- private partnerships, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each are discussed. Upon completion of the course, students shall have the skills and knowledge necessary to understand and select delivery and pricing systems, manage, coordinate, and supervise the construction process within the constraints of the project’s defined scope, time schedule, budgeted costs, and intended design.
