Project Planning, Scheduling and Quality Control

Prerequisite: CMG 120. This course equips students with a thorough working knowledge of planning and scheduling. The course focuses on the use of graphic representation such as bar charts and CPM network diagrams. Other topics include resource leveling, network crashing, and earned value management. The student is introduced to techniques used in the industry by utilizing commercial software to create a construction project schedule. The class highlights the importance of analyzing project schedules and schedule alternatives. System approaches to quality and productivity in construction are presented. Broad coverage of managerial and statistical aspects of quality control, including quality assurance and quality management. This includes Total Quality Management (TQM) techniques that pertain to construction management. The student investigates methods and strategies for improving competitiveness at the company level.
