Construction Safety and Health Management

Prerequisite: CMG 120. An introduction to construction safety management principles and practices. Students will become familiar with why construction safety is integral to the success of any construction management program or project. The course provides an overview and history of Federal and State (Ohio) OSHA compliance requirements, loss prevention protocols, worker’s compensation, and an introduction to safe work practices and other control measures that will reduce potential occupational injuries and illnesses. Students study the safety risks inherent in a construction project and understand the economic impact of accidents. This requires a knowledge of calculating and quantifying the economic impact of accidents, analyzing root causes, and applying preventive measures for maximum safety on the job.
