Catalog description

Co-requisite: CHE 440. This course introduces chemical engineering students to the fundamentals of engineering product design, with a focus on translating ideas into commercially viable chemical-based products. Students will learn user-centered design, rapid prototyping, techno-economic analysis, regulatory strategy, and scale-up considerations. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary thinking, creativity, and iterative problem solving. A team-based project guides students through the full design cycle.
