Clinical Chemistry II

Catalog description
Prerequisites: Admission into the Cleveland Clinic School of Medical Laboratory Sciences clinical training program. Corequisites: All Session I courses must be taken concurrently. Lectures present the biochemistry and normal and abnormal physiology of various classes of chemicals, the basic principles and use of laboratory instruments and equipment, preparation of reagents, and statistics and their application to quality control systems. A survey of laboratory methods used to measure various classes of chemicals, their interpretation and clinical application is also covered. Laboratory work will give the student hands-on experience with instrumentation and manual methods to assist with the understanding of troubleshooting, quality control and result interpretation.
