Catalog description

Prerequisite: Degree-seeking status, or enrollment in a Department of Art and Design program with senior standing. Course serves as the capstone requirement for Studio Art majors who have selected Graphic Design as their concentration. This course should be taken during a student’s final year and after a completion of a majority of the requirements for the major. Throughout the semester we will meet university capstone requirements by promoting and enhancing skills in critical thinking, information literacy, oral communication and writing. Students will spend the semester focused on the development of a professional design portfolio. All classroom activities will be focused on network building, self-promotion, and professional preparation. Standards for grading will be based on a variety of criteria including (but not limited to): attendance, effort, quality of research, completion of assignments, visual and technical exploration, critical analysis skills exhibited in both writing and oral presentation, and enthusiastic participation.
