Catalog description

Prerequisites: Students with senior standing in the Arabic major or permission of the instructor. The capstone project represents the summation of students’ undergraduate experience and facilitates the transition from college life to career stage or graduate study. The course offers students a constructive opportunity to demonstrate adequate level of intellectual maturity and learning skills to translate knowledge they accumulated into practical and meaningful applications. The realization of these learning expectations entails satisfactory language proficiency skills (at least intermediate high according to the American Council on the Teaching Foreign Languages) and sufficient knowledge about major themes and figures in Arab culture, literature, and history. As students completing the capstone’s final project, they will be demonstrating mastery in the following skills: writing, critical thinking, and oral communication. This project will be concluded in students writing a research paper and conducting an oral presentation.
