ENGL 4350
Writing Video Games
Clayton State University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Video games are a complex, interesting, and powerful means of storytelling, but how do you tell a story when someone else has the controller? This course builds on the framework of storytelling to introduce students to the concepts of interactive narrative as well as giving them practical, hands-on application of applying these concepts to the writing of games using a number of tools that are standard both with independent developers and in professional spaces. Students will demonstrate knowledge of story structure and specific industry toolsets to tell stories. The course includes close readings, application of technology, and mastery in writing.
