Catalog description
This course provides students with a detailed introduction to public relations (PR), including its historical origins. contemporary approaches, and its distinctions from advertising. Students will explore theories of PR while learning the many roles and functions of the practitioner and the agency. Through case studies, students will examine legal and ethical concerns, and engage in simulations to identify a client, construct a press release and newsletter, and develop a portfolio that establishes and maintains client visibility.
