Catalog description
This course is designed to deepen the student's understanding of substance use disorders as defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th Edition (DSM-V), focusing on best practice counseling approaches, and the 12 Core Functions of the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor. The course emphasizes the goals, strategies and skills needed to be an effective mental health professional working with addictions and substance use disorders.
