Catalog description
This is the first of a 6-part seminar series that begins in the didactic year and continues through the clinical year. This series explores topics relevant to PA professional practice. This first course in the series will explore the history and development of the profession, and current role of the physician assistant as part of the healthcare team and as part of the U.S. healthcare team and as part of the U.S. healthcare system. The concept of interdisciplinary care teams will be introduced with exploration of the roles and responsibilities of various healthcare professionals. This will serve as a base for interprofessional practice experiences that are integrated throughout the program curriculum. Lastly, PA students will participate in activities and discussions for creating individual plans to be implemented throughout the MPAS degree program to help maintain wellness, reduce stress and preserve a holistic balance to the mind and body.
