This course completes the policy sequence. This advanced course explores social legislation affecting disadvantaged persons, communities, families and systems. The course has two basic purposes. The first is to provide students with a historical and contemporary understanding of governmental policy and its relationship to poverty, oppression and social justice. The second aim is to develop an appreciation and understanding of the range of social work involvement in the policy/legislative process through advocacy and policy reform. Traditional Option Prerequisite: MSW-506 , MSW-510 Students electing to enroll in the Medical Social Work Track: MSW-504 , MSW-505 , MPH-503 Advanced Standing Option Prerequisite: MSW-514
