Transition to Practice II

Catalog description

This course is the second in a series developed to help students in transition periods. This second course includes end-of-program summative evaluations as well as activities that are intended to help students as they prepare for the national certification board examination and for employment as a certified physician assistant. Students work through NCCPA board preparation material and receive instruction on NCCPA certification and licensing processes. Summative evaluations administered in this course will assess student attainment of end-of-program competencies in medical knowledge, interpersonal, clinical and technical skills, professional behaviors, and clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. These competencies will be assessed through several methods including written examinations, procedural skills and summative Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). Students will take a final summative examination to evaluate scope and depth of medical knowledge. They will also perform objective standardized clinical examinations in which their clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, physical examination skills, clinical and technical skills, and professionalism will be evaluated. Students must pass all evaluations in order to graduate from the program.
