Catalog description

This course will introduce students to basic interviewing techniques and skills to obtain relevant and appropriate history information during a medical interview. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing empathetic-listening and relationship-building communication skills as well as applying a holistic approach that incorporates patient cultural beliefs and environmental influences. Students will also learn the basics of medical documentation, including an introduction to electronic medical records and informatics necessary for clinical practice.
