This is the sixth and final foundation course using an integrated model of didactic learning and students’ practicum experience grounded by practices that explicitly decenter whiteness in social work. This course aims for students to embody anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and rights-based practices to empower and advance the greater good of all individuals and communities. This course has five objectives: First, students will utilize a rights-based, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive perspective when implementing, evaluating, and reflecting on the knowledge, skills, and interventions used in social work practice with diverse clients and communities. Second, students will employ a healthy degree of introspection and critical reflection when using assessment, surveillance, and research processes (and their utilizations) in social work practice. Students will also critically examine how these methods inform and maintain social welfare policies and programs. Third, students will demonstrate their commitment to advancing human rights and social, racial, economic, and environmental justice by advocating for, implementing, and evaluating policies that empower diverse clients and communities. Fourth, students will apply social work and other multidisciplinary frameworks when evaluating practice. Fifth, students will implement a plan that outlines their actions to combat and decenter whiteness. Traditional Option Prerequisite: MSW-541 , MSW-542 , MSW-543 , MSW-544 , and MSW-545
