Placement Level: Eligibility for STAT C1000 (formerly STAT-10) as determined by the Chaffey College placement process. Advisory: Concurrent enrollment in STAT-510. Note: STAT C1000 replaced STAT-10 (CCN: STAT C1000) beginning with the fall 2026 term. This course is an introduction to statistical thinking and processes, including methods and concepts for discovery and decision-making using data. Topics include descriptive statistics; probability and sampling distributions; statistical inference; correlation and linear regression; analysis of variance, chi-squared, and t-tests; and application of technology for statistical analysis including the interpretation of the relevance of the statistical findings. Students apply methods and processes to applications using data from a broad range of disciplines. A specific statistical graphing & computing utility is required. See instructor before acquiring. May be offered as an Honors course. The Math department strongly recommends that any student wanting or needing extra support for this course to consider enrolling in STAT-510 to be taken concurrently with STAT C1000 (formerly STAT-10).
