Catalog description

Prerequisite: MUSIC-6. Advisory: Concurrent enrollment in MUSIC-37. This course expands on concepts from Music 6, Music Theory and Musicianship II. In addition, through writing and analysis, the course will include: introduction to chromatic harmony; secondary/applied chords; modulation; borrowed chords; introduction to Neapolitan and augmented-sixth chords; analysis and composition of music in the popular style. Applies and develops the rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic concepts through ear training, sight singing, analysis, and dictation. (C-ID MUS 140 and MUS 145) Transfer: CSU; UC
