Catalog description

Advisory: Completion of IET-407 or two or more years of field related experience that includes knowledge of static devices. This course covers the fundamental knowledge and practical skills on a broad basis of industrial control systems. Students learn the competencies necessary to wire, program / configure, and maintain standard industry controls and instrumentation. Control systems include servo robotics, move functions, and basic programming instruction. Includes instruction on the following concepts of process control: calibration, piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) basics, project start-up, loop checking, evaluation of loop performance, Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) and International Society of Automation (ISA) standards. Students perform wiring of closed and open-loop systems for flow, level, and pressure using a variety of wiring diagrams. Smart devices and digital controllers, as well as the calculation and configuration of smart transmitters, are covered.
