Beginning Patternmaking

Catalog description

Corequisite: FASHD-40 (may be taken previously). This course introduces the fundamentals of pattern drafting using the flat pattern design method for ready-to-wear garments. Students will draft basic pattern blocks for standardized dress forms, construct selected samples using industrial equipment, and translate garment designs into accurate paper patterns. Emphasis is placed on testing patterns in muslin to evaluate design replication, fit, and precision following industry standards.
