Prerequisite: PHYS-45 and MATH-65A. Vector treatment of statics of particles and rigid bodies. Free body diagrams application to problems of equilibrium (two and three dimensions) with systems of forces in trusses, frames and machines. Principles of friction, distributed forces, centroid and centers of gravity, moments of inertia for area and mass, and shear and bending moment. Transfer: CSU; UC
