Principles of Macroeconomics

Placement Level: Eligibility for MATH-542 or higher-level math course as determined by the Chaffey College placement process. Note: ECON C2002 replaced ECON-2 beginning with the fall 2026 term. An introductory course using models of the domestic and international economy to understand national income, unemployment, inflation, economic growth, inequality, the financial system, and monetary, fiscal, and other economic policies. U.S. economic systems and institutions and their origins will be examined including: theories and policies concerning economic growth and development, business cycles, unemployment, full employment, inflation, taxation, deficits, the national debt, public choice, money, banking, interest rates, international trade and finance, and competing economic views (e.g. Classical, New Classical, Keynesian, Monetarism, Sustainable Growth Theories, and Human Scale Economics).
