Principles of Microeconomics

Catalog description
Placement Level: Eligibility for MATH-542 or higher-level math course as determined by the Chaffey College placement process. Note: ECON C2001 replaced ECON-4 beginning with the fall 2026 term. An introductory course using microeconomic models to understand individual decisions by consumers and firms, market outcomes including market failure, elasticity, market structures, labor markets, inequality, and the impact of government policies. Additional topics include scarcity; specialization and trade; production and cost theory; factor markets; effects of taxes on individuals and businesses; income distribution and poverty; economics of race, gender, and culture; and market failure. May be offered as an Honors course. (C-ID ECON 201) Transfer: CSU; UC
