Catalog description

Introductory course in the theory and application of live and recorded radio broadcast productions. Students gain a basic understanding of analog and digital audio equipment for live and/or pre-recorded radio broadcasts. Lab practicum includes: operation of various digital recording equipment, digital audio software and editing, radio programming formats, news writing and organizing radio program content for a live or pre-recorded weekly radio broadcast on the Chaffey College radio station. Application of radio production techniques in live audio board operation, mixing sound sources, production of Internet audio/radio streaming, multi-track recording, mixing and editing. Students examine and explore representations of race, gender, and culture in past and current radio programming. Develop vocal announcing skills. Create entrepreneurial content via a radio personality/program website. Produce diverse, multilingual, and culturally inclusive weekly radio broadcasts. Study of current FCC rules and regulations. This course delves into the world of radio production with a focus on A.I. integration. Students will discover how artificial intelligence can be applied to automate content creation, generate voiceovers, and even assist in program scripting. They will learn to harness the capabilities of A.I. to make radio production more efficient and creative. (C-ID FTVE 125) Transfer: CSU
