Speech and Language Development 3.0 UNITS

Catalog description

This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of how speech and language develop in normal monolingual and bilingual children. Students will learn the components of speech and language as well as theories of language development. Cognitive, motor, and social-emotional factors will be discussed as they relate to language development. Students will be introduced to informal measures of communication development using speech and language samples of typically developing children. The SLPA department requires all speech-language pathology (SLP) prerequisite courses to be taken within 8 years of the individual's application to the SLPA Associate of Science degree program.
