This course studies British literature from the Romantic Period to contemporary British and postcolonial texts. Emphasis is on the study of influential and significant texts and authors; the evolution of literary traditions, contexts, and genres; and the contexts of British literature: historical, philosophical, social, political, and aesthetic.
