Designed to help first-year Honors College students familiarize themselves with our program, meet other Honors College students, and identify resources that will help them succeed at UCM and beyond.  More specifically, the class will challenge students to think of themselves as part of a scholarly community with the privileges and responsibilities that entails. Section information text: HONR 1400 is designed to help first-year Honors College students familiarize themselves with our program, meet other Honors College students, and identify resources that will help them succeed at UCM and beyond. More generally, the class will challenge you to think of yourself as part of a scholarly community with the privileges and responsibilities that entails. Students are encouraged to take the 2-credit option involving an experiential learning component over fall break that is fully funded by The Honors College. More specifically, students who sign up for this option will spend a weekend engaging with hands-on, mini-lectures from UCM faculty on a variety of topics. Participants will also be involved in community building activities, including a ropes course, campfires, and/or scavenger hunts. Students who have previously taken the in-class 1-credit option are welcome to sign up for this opportunity for an additional credit.
