Catalog description

An overview course in correctional theory and practice. Traces the historical development of corrections with emphasis on changing social standards and philosophies. Examines the various types of correctional institutions, their mission, physical structure, management, and problems. Also examines probation and parole, including theory, practice and major issues confronting these correctional alternatives. Section information text: This 100% online course requires readily available access to an internet connection. Check with the instructor for specific software requirements for the course. Both Windows and Mac platforms are supported but be sure to check for browser compatibility website.
