This course provides instruction in the fundamentals of metal welding and cutting techniques. Instruction is provided in safety and health practices, metal fabrication preparation, and metal fabrication procedures. ACADEMIC PROGRAMS CENTRAL GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE NON-CREDIT AND RE-ENTRY SERVICES Non-Credit Programs ADULT EDUCATION The Adult Education Division (AED) offers instruction for adults seeking to develop essential skills, prepare for High School Equivalency exams, strengthen personal character and family foundations, acquire the skills needed to thrive in today’s workforce, improve their English language proficiency, or achieve Citizenship. AED programs enhance students’ foundational education, critical thinking, digital literacy, soft skills, and industry-specific competencies, enabling success across various industries, regardless of their academic or career goals. AED provides flexible scheduling options, including morning, afternoon, evening, and online classes. Additionally, AED offers resources tailored for out-of-school youth, underemployed and unemployed adults, and reentry populations in Central Georgia. Learning experiences are focused on streamlining adult education across systems to shorten the time between attaining a high school equivalency credential and a stackable college credential. High school equivalency options include the GED® Test, the HiSET® Exam, and the Career Plus High School Diploma. Educational programs and services are accessible and flexible, responsive to students’ individual needs, aligned with agencies to help students overcome barriers, and linked to building the workforce needed to support our community’s economic and development plan. Programs and Services Accelerating Opportunity The Accelerating Opportunity (AO) program is designed to deliver a fast-paced learning experience for students. It offers a distinctive opportunity that seamlessly integrates preparation for the GED® Test and HiSET® Exam with coursework selected based on workforce demand. This allows students to earn a Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) within one or two semesters. Comprehensive support services are provided for all students transitioning into college classes, including assistance with applications and admissions, preparation for entrance exams, financial aid guidance, registration, and career planning. Career Plus High School Diploma Career Plus High School Diploma program allows students (age 18 or older) to earn their high school equivalency by combining previously earned high school credits and completed portions of the GED® Test and HiSET® Exam with technical college credits.
