EXPLORING SOCIOCULTURAL PERSPECTIVES AND DIVERSITY IN EDUCATIONAL CONTEXT

Catalog description
Fundamental knowledge of understanding culture and teaching children from diverse backgrounds. Specifically, this course is designed to examine the nature and function of culture; the development of individual and group cultural identity; definitions and implications of diversity; and the influence of culture on learning, development and pedagogy. Successful completion of 10 hours of field experience is required. This course prepares students for transfer to complete a Bachelor’s of Education degree in Elementary or Middle Grades Education. Students interested in B.S.Ed. transfer should enroll under the General Studies AS major. EDUC courses are accepted for Area F transfer credit as specified in select CGTC articulation agreements for General Studies.
