Catalog description
The purpose of this course is to deepen the understanding of mathematical reasoning and proof, especially its role in mathematics teaching and learning. The emphasis of this course is on strategies and techniques to develop effective reasoning skills and proof for mathematics. Reasoning and proof will be recognized as a fundamental aspect of mathematics, mathematical conjectures will be made and investigated, mathematical arguments and proofs will be developed and evaluated, and various types of reasoning and methods of proof will be selected and used.
