Catalog description

This course is required for all mathematics majors with an education minor. The course traces the historical development of topics encountered in the secondary mathematics curriculum from the rise of civilization through the eighteenth century. Explorations of historical problems are emphasized. The purpose of the course is to provide an understanding of the evolution of mathematical concepts and the contributions of diverse cultures. Lecture, research, and discussion. Prerequisite: MATH 1497. [UD UCA Core: D]
