Topics in this course include solving first order linear, non-linear partial differential equations using the method of characteristics, and solving second order linear partial differential equations using separation of variables. Applications include heat conduction, steady state temperatures, and vibrating strings and membranes. Lecture. Prerequisites: MATH 2471 and 3331.
