CONSERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Catalog description

Required for environmental science majors, an elective for others. This course assesses the physical, ecological, social, economic, and political considerations affecting major global natural resource issues with emphasis on the United States using a lecture and discussion format. The historical development and contemporary application of the conservation philosophy of resource use, and human-environment interactions are discussed. Critical Thinking and scientific communication skills are developed and applied to key natural resource management challenges. Prerequisite: GEOG 1400 or consent of instructor. This course is part of the Responsible Living (R) component of the Upper-Division Core, which promotes the ability to address real-world problems and find ethical solutions for individuals and society.
