ORIENTATION TO TEACHER RESIDENCY

Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to the elementary education teacher preparation program and the year-long residency model. Designed for candidates seeking initial licensure, the course explores the structure and changing nature of the elementary classroom, the roles and responsibilities of the resident, mentor teacher, and university supervisor, and the expectations for the effective communication and collaboration in professional settings. Candidates will begin developing a reflective teaching identity and gain a foundational understanding of their responsibilities as future educators. Prerequisite: Admission into teacher education.
